Club History

Burntwood Archers was formed in 1991 by a group of students and the teacher of an evening class in archery. The club took its name from the ancient name of Brentwood, Essex, where it is based. The club is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society/Archery GB the organising body for target and Olympic archery in the UK.

We are a club with a diverse membership; ages currently range from 8 to 65+ years, shooting mainly recurve bows, but with compound, longbows and field archery barebows also being used. We shoot target archery at our venue, and usually manage to have a club team at local competitions. The lowest age for joining is 8 years old.

We are very welcoming to beginners, intermediate and experienced archers shooting all styles of bow except crossbow.

The club has members who are competitive archers and also those who just shoot for relaxation and pleasure. Club members frequently enter competitions and have been successful medal winners at both junior and senior level.

The club offers regular coaching clinics to members, when wanted, so that individuals who want to, can improve the performance of themselves and their equipment.
